Community Inc

Developed by T4 Interactive and tinyBuild, Community Inc is a simulation strategy video game, available for the Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. While on the surface this game appears like a simple city-building adventure, there's more than meets the eye. The town is inhabited by little creatures called The Ling. Their happiness is players' profit. These little creatures work building a village that they inhabit. Players control their wages, food intake, and even their individual stats. In return, The Ling have their happiness harvested and used to power players' portals.

Be careful, though. The Ling are tricky creatures. They fight among each other and take revenge in ways that might hurt profits such as lighting each others' houses or stores on fire, or even attacking one another! Players must maintain the balance of work and happiness so that the profits can flow. Never fear, however. If things go too badly, just sell the village and start again!

Community Inc Features

This game has a lot of features that are unique from other building simulation games. Firstly, the maps are generated randomly or created by the player. Choose a completely random experience, or build something that fits a specific idea. Next, players monitor Lings on an individual scale as well as collectively. Too many unhappy Lings causes trouble in town, but a feud between single Lings can also be destructive. It's important that players keep an eye on this aspect as their village progresses. Additionally, each Ling's ability score helps players know which of many roles that they fill well. A strong Ling makes a good lumberjack, a role that is integral because it provides the village with wood for buildings. A smart Ling might be a good shopkeep. The ways of customizing a town are truly endless with these features.

Buildings are yet another way that players make a village their own. There are lots of different shops, farms, and others that players build for their Ling or for profit. Decide what objects to place inside, with over 150 craftable items in-game! Many other creatures that live in the area may express interest in goods or services from the Ling. Work with these tribes and set up trade agreements for a variety of goods. In contrast, players may decide that declaring war and wiping out these other groups is the better path. If the happiness drops or the village is wiped out, there's no need to fret. Players simply sell off the floundering town and start again from scratch using the knowledge they gained.
