Concept - It’s Literally Among Us, But with Waterfowl
Basically, Goose Goose Duck is a free Among Us but with adorable waterfowl. InnerSloth took the concept of popular social deduction games such as Unfortunate Spacemen, Project Winter, and Town of Salem and created a new and appealing formulation. The hand-drawn visuals, the creative kills, and the crew tasks are all elements that make for an enjoyable, light-hearted game of murdering nine of your closest friends.
Goose Goose Duck incorporates several refinements that have become popular with Among Us modders.
It’s a good concept, and Goose Goose Duck follows it quite strictly. This may not be the most creative approach, but it’s a proven one, and Goose Goose Duck incorporates several refinements that have become popular with Among Us modders.
Graphics & Audio- Cute Cartoon Waterfowl, Cute Cartoon Murders
As in Among Us, the art has a simple, hand-drawn look, and the sound is simple. The success of this game will hinge on whether players are charmed by its look or not. The nearly crude 2D design of Among Us really connects with players emotionally. Goose Goose Duck remains 2D and still affects a hand-drawn style. However, the characters and tasks are drawn with a bit more roundness.
In Goose Goose Duck, the Geese have eyes and limbs. This gives them an advantage since they the ability to convey action and emotion. But the question is whether it will click. Are the Geese cute enough? Too cute? Do gamers want a slightly more realistic outer-space social deduction game?
Gameplay - It’s Among Us the Way that a Lot of Us Play It Anyway
Goose Goose Duck follows the gameplay style of other social deduction games. The task of the Geese is to find the impostors and persuade their fellows to vote them out. The Ducks must stealthily murder the Geese without being detected.
However, the Geese can win without identifying all of the Ducks. If each Goose accomplishes their tasks, then they get the victory by completing their space mission successfully. This gives the Geese something to do and a reason to split up, while it puts time pressure on the Ducks to murder at a quick pace.
Goose Goose Duck supports up to 16 players, with built-in voice chat.
So far, just like Among Us. But since its release, Among Us has attracted a large community of modders. Each of whom has added exciting options to the game. Some, like skeld.net, have even created public servers for players to play with mods.
Goose Goose Duck incorporates many of the Among Us mods that gamers have been enjoying or hoping for into the base gameplay. It natively supports up to 16 players, with built-in voice chat. It has several costume options, including custom farts, and a crafting system that lets you create your own. It offers alternate game modes, including Hide-and-Seek and Goose Hunt, and optional new roles, including the Dodo Bird, the Cannibal, the Vigilante, and the Morphling.
Is This Game Really Necessary? Well, Maybe.
Although Goose Goose Duck is still in Early Access, it has a pretty polished feel to it. That makes sense when you consider that its makers have basically been using Among Us as a sort of Early Access version already. Using built-in features usually works more smoothly than using mods.
The question is whether the changes and improvements are enough for Among Us players to, um, flock to Goose Goose Duck. It’s hard to say ... but since the base game is free-to-play, it seems likely that many gamers and social deduction fans will likely give it a try.
REPLAY VALUE: 5/5 - Goose Goose Duck is a quick, simple, fun multiplayer game that’s different on each playthrough. Add in all the new options, and you have a lot of replayability.
